Instructors
The Dojang makes use of highly trained martial artists and teachers in all classes. The Dojang is run by school owner and Associate Grand Master Marie Daranyi, who is a 8th Degree Black Belt with over 35 years of Tae Kwon Do training. She is a 30+ year veteran educator and martial arts instructor. BuKwanJangNim Marie teaches the majority of the adult classes and facilitates the curriculum for the Children’s Program. BuKwanJangNim Marie is a retired elementary school principal and an educational consultant with her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.
The Children’s Program is lead by BuSabum Allison Schwille (4th Degree) and Sabum Kimberlee O'Cain (5th Degree). Both of these instructors are current Dojang students with many years for formal and informal teaching experience. BuSabum Allison has her undergraduate degree in psychology from the State University of NY and her Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Arizona. She currently works as an Occupational Therapist and previously worked as the coordinator of a day program for adults with developmental disabilities. Sabum Kimberlee is our second lead instructor for the Children's Program. She is a gifted martial artist, instructor and equestrian trainer. Along with being an amazing marital artist and Uke (a training partner), she is known for her fun and engaging teaching style that all of our students respond positively to, adults and children. Our children's classes are also regularly supported by other Black Belts and students in the Adult Program. Their support is invaluable in ensuring that all of our students in the Children's Program get individualized attention and that we keep our instructor to student ratio extremely low. We are grateful for their support!
Within the Children’s Program, we seek to motivate and engage students in age appropriate ways while developing fitness, focus and love of movement. Additional Black Belts and students from the Adult School assist with the Children’s Program. The success of our kids is a Dojang community effort!
